The possibilities can seem overwhelming, whether you’re modifying an existing space, adding onto your home, or building a new house from scratch, there are some structural features that can make your at-home learning space a better environment for learning.

Online learning area doesn’t need to look like a classroom. You will need a work area with a flat surface, comfortable seating, good lighting, and space for storage. Ideally it should be located near the student so that they can reach the things they need when needed.

Here are some tips on how you can create an at-home learning environment where your child will thrive in this predicament times in learning.

PRIORITIZE COMFORT

1. Have a chair that your kid don’t mind sitting in for a long period of time.

2. Make sure the climate of the room is comfortable because your kids may have a hard time learning if it’s too hot, too cold, or damp.

1. Train your Children – home is the primary training environment. Start training your child at home in two areas:

B. Bible training – have a time to read the bible as a family and discuss God’s word.

3. Discipline your Children – Discipline your children diligently, consistently and early in life.

1. Evaluate and Set Goals

A good leader recommends self-evaluation as a tool for setting and achieving goals. This is good for students as well.

Let your kid evaluate themselves, ask them these two questions: “What went well with you the last school year?” and “What didn’t go well?”

First let them focus on aspects they have control over, rather than what they can’t change and the second reflection should be something they can work on. Christmas is celebrated all over the world to honor the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem, who we believe is the Son of God.

The word “Christmas” comes from the word “Christ-Mass” and the first recorded date of Christmas was on the 20th of December in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine.

So why do we celebrate "Christmas"?

We celebrate Christmas because the angel said, the birth of Jesus Christ is “good news”; good news is meant to be celebrated.

We celebrate Christmas because a savior was born. Jesus is the Savior who delivers us from sin and death (Matthew 1:21). He is the human Messiah who fulfills the law and the Prophets, showing that God is faithful (Matthew 5:17) and he is the divine Lord who has entered our world.

We celebrate Christmas with gift-giving because of the “indescribable gift” that God gave us (2 Corinthians 9:15).

We celebrate Christmas by stringing lights, because the light of the world has come to us (John 1:4; Isaiah 9:2).

We celebrate Christmas with carols and choirs, because they expresses of joy and follow the examples of Mary and Zacharias and Simeon and the angels, all of whom extolled the Lord in poetry (Luke 1-2).

We celebrate Christmas by decorating evergreen trees with stars and angels and tinsels, because of the external life Jesus brings (John 4:14).

But we should always remember that the utmost reason why we celebrate Christmas is because, it is a time to share the love and condescension of God to all of the people around us.

A world-wide celebration for people to be united and be one! To be a reminder that all of us are one and that we should love each and everyone despite all the differences.

Remember that children learn values by observing what you do and drawing conclusions about what you think is important in life. 4. DEVELOP EMPATHY – Empathy is the foundation of compassion, which is the foundation of values. The only way kids can learn empathy is by being treated emphatically and by watching you respond to other with compassion and kindness.

5. DON’T LET YOUR CHILDREN TAKE THE EASY WAY OUT OF CHALLENGES – If your kid committed to doing something, they need to follow through on that. You don’t want them to be quitters when the “going gets though”. Let them finish what they started!

You can only show your support by giving them advice or suggestions, in this way they will learn when they fail.

6. APPRECIATE GOOD BEHAVIOR – When you see your child demonstrate a value that is important to you, recognize your child for it, as specifically as possible.

If you see your kid cheers up his/her friend say “I noticed how kind you were to Ben when you tried to cheer him up.”, In this way they will feel that what they are doing is nice and that they should do it more in the future, but don’t give them money when they do things you want, because they might look for money whenever they do good things when they grow up.

Saving money is one of the most important aspects of building wealth and having a secure financial foundation, that is why we encourage you to train your child to spend their allowance wisely, this is a valuable habit which they can bring with them all the way to adulthood.

1. START WITH A PIGGY BANK – Educating your child as early as kindergarten is very ideal. The easiest way for you to start at that age is educating them to save money by putting coins inside their “personal bank” which is the piggy bank, tell them that the goal is to fill the “bank” and illustrate that the piggy bank is for saving money for the future and that the more they save, the more their money will grow.

Kids do love to buy toys, it is not a sin to sometimes tell them that they should buy it out of their hard earned money inside their piggy bank, this way your kid will realize that he/she must work hard in order to get what he/she wants.

2. SHARE THE MONEY JAR LESSON – Set up three money jars for your child: one for saving, one for spending and one for sharing. The saving jar is for short-term savings, like the toy or food he/she cannot afford with a week allowance, the spending jar is the money your child can spend anytime with whatever and the sharing jar is the money that your child can use to donate to other family members or to other people and institutions such as church donations.

Each time your child gets his/her allowance, help him allocate a budget for each jar. It’s up to them how they want to split their allowance, but don’t be afraid to help them out.

To encourage them more, put a picture or stickers of their desired toy or item on the jar, this will be a visual reminder of what they’re working for.

3. OPEN A BANK ACCOUNT – Once the piggy bank or money jar is full, take your kids with you to the bank and let them open a savings account. Let them count how much they have earned and make them take note of how much they will deposit and motivate them that their money will grow as long as they don’t touch it.

Educational Tour SY 2019-2020

Last September 20, 2019 is our annual field trip. Field Trips are planned activities outside Pasig Green Pasture Christian School participated by students and some parents/ guardians under the supervision of teachers and school administrators. The purpose of field trips is to enrich and extend the classroom instructional program. It is expected that field trips provide curriculum connections for students and opportunities for students to experience unique and relevant learning experiences. This educational tour adheres to the following:

A. ensure relevance and alignment with the educational competencies of the K to 12 Curriculum and leadership development of learners;

B. uphold child protection principles and that no learner shall be disadvantaged in any form; and

C. observe the safety and security protocols for all participants before, during and after the activity

Students’ safety will be the primary consideration. Adequate supervision will be provided at all times for all students and such supervision will take into account any unique circumstances or dangers posed by the trip.

For this year K1- K3, G1-G3 visited AMSPEC and Lakbay Museo and for G4-G11: Fort Santiago, Lakbay Museo and Techno Park

It's the time of the year again where we celebrate "Health Awareness and Values Formation"

This is a week long celebration wherein the students learn about eating healthy, as we want them to start young in taking good care of themselves and at the same time learn more about good values and incorporate it in everything that they do.

In this years event we had different competition and events lined up for the students. We had story telling, speech choir, interpretative dance, vocal solo, instrumental solo and oration.

It was indeed a fun filled week and ended our celebration by awarding the winners from the different competitions that we had.

1. Let love be the ruling principle of your life – Jesus said to those who followed Him,

“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another” – John 13:35. The greatest demonstration of the fact that we are Christians is that we love one another.

2. Be obedient – Let Christ have first place in all of the choices of our life.

3. Be perceptive – Even if we personally disagree with them, learn to understand their beliefs in life and let them be.

4. Be patient – Always work on trying to forgive those who may have hurt you, you must learn to love your enemies; because God loves everyone, and we need to, also. Time to say goodbye to selective loving!

5. Be kind – Treat others as you would like to be treated. Simple Acts of kindness like holding a door open for someone are good deeds that can help you feel less paranoid.

6. Be helpful – Helping those in need with whole heart and without asking anything in return is the true essence of helping, if you don’t know where to start then you can volunteer to some soup kitchen happening around your area.

Finding the right school for your kids can be tough, that is why we listed some criteria’s that you as a parent should check when choosing the right school for your little ones.

5 important things to consider in choosing a school are the following:

1. The Curriculum - In the Philippines, there is traditional, progressive and montessori type of curriculum. Learning the difference of each will help you know which one would fit in your lifestyle and belief.

2. The Location - It should not be that far from where you live/work, because you do not want the stress of going through the traffic on a daily basis.

Imagine yourself just dropping off/picking up your kids every day, add the emergency cases where you should come to the school immediately.

3. The Tuition Fee - You should check your finances on how much you can budget that is specifically allotted for the school’s fee alone, consider also that as your kid grows up, tuition fee goes up too.

It would be really hard for you to maintain a school that is out of your budget and letting your kid transfer from one school to other just because of finance problem is not advisable.

4. The S tudent-Teacher Ratio - As a parent, you would either want your kid to be in a school that has a lot of student per room for the skills they would gain or a small group of student per room, so that the teacher can give attention to them 100%.

5. The Facilities - This would have a big impact on your kids daily life in school, because this is where they will be everyday to learn. It would be nice for them to be in a place where the ambiance is created for learning.

It was a long week celebration of the United Nation, but last October 22, 2018 was the last day of Pasig Green Pasture Christian school's UN Week, which this year carried the theme, "Be Successful in What Matters Most: God Matters".

It was one successful UN celebration, showcasing the cultures of various countries and displaying the national costume of most countries. It was a wonderful and colourful event with cultural dances and plays.

Pasig Green Pasture Christian School will host a Christmas Fair on December 8, 2018 (Saturday) at the school gymnasium. The fair will open at 4 PM for batch 1 (K1-G3 pupils) and batch 2 at 5:30 PM (G4-G10 students).

Event will start at exactly 6 PM.

Ticket Mechanics:
1. Each family will be given four tickets.
If you wish to avail for more, please let us know.

2. Tickets cover entrance, wristlets and free inflatable rides.
There is a minimal fee for game booths, sing and dance along corner, food and photo booths.

Science, Technology, Math and Engineering come to life at Pasig Green!

If you were on campus last January 26 and 27, 2017, you might be wondering why students were dressed as Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton and Florence Nightingale, why we were launching improvised rockets, why we were answering math questions while playing human snakes and ladders or why we were solving science problems while playing Amazing Race. This is because Pasig Green Pasture Christian School held a STEM Fair with the theme, "Promoting Excellence and Research Culture by Shepherding Creative and Innovative Minds"!

From the smiles we saw at the STEM Fair closing ceremony, we must say that the Math and Science departments successfully accomplished its goals of piquing students' interest in science and mathematics and promoting teamwork through the various activities we had throughout the week. Introducing: Dragonpay and Alma

Happy Friday, Green Shepherd community! We are pleased to make the following technology announcements:

Pasig Green Pasture Christian School recently partnered with Dragonpay, a leading payment solutions provider in the Philippines to make the bills payment process easier and more convenient. Through this partnership, school fees can now be paid via online banking, over the counter at most major banks and retail establishments (supermarkets, grocery stores, remittance centers, Bayad Centers, etc.).

We also recently became Alma's (an education software based in the U.S.) first partner school in the Philippines. Alma's company mission is to create "modern tools for every school". Starting SY 2017-2018,Green Shepherds will soon be able to access lessons and school announcements and submit projects online with just one log-in. Parents and guardians will also be able to track their children's school real time performance from anywhere around the world.

Pasig Green Pasture Christian School Celebrates UN Week!

October 28, 2016 - Pasig Green Pasture Christian school celebrated the close of UN Week, which this year carried the theme, "Gathering of Nations". It was the school's biggest UN celebration in its history and an excellent display of teamwork among the school administration, parents and students as we all worked together to showcase the cultures of various countries through a "Parade of Nations" national costume display contest, cultural dances and an international food festival.

Prior to the UN week culmination event, each class worked together with their parents to create booths made with recycled materials to highlight information (current events, economic status, trivia, etc.) about various assigned countries.

Congratulations Rephael Reyes!

September 1, 2016 - Rephael Roi B. Reyes, a Grade Four student at Pasig Green Pasture Christian School, was elected President of the Young Writer's Organization at the Pasig District IV 2016 Mini Press Conference in San Lorenzo Ruiz Elementary School. Reyes bested nine other candidates from various public and private schools. One of his primary tasks as the newly elected president includes rendering a commitment speech at the closing ceremony of the said conference that would inspire young writers to keep on developing their skills in Journalism.

Eighteen other representatives from Pasig Green Pasture Christian School joined Reyes in various competitions in Journalism both in English and Filipino.

Challenge Island: Where Engineering Meets Imagination!

Pasig Green Pasture Christian School is proud to announce that it is Smile Group's newest Challenge Island partner school! We will be holding classes from 9 AM to 10 AM for twelve Saturdays starting September 17, 2016. Non Pasig Green Pasture students are welcome to enroll!

What is Challenge Island?
Challenge Island is an enrichment program from the US that is on the forefront of S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Education and 21st Century Learning. It aims to promote creative, social and critical thinking skills among its participants in a FUN way! The program is geared towards children from ages 4 to 14 years old.

Here’s a closer look at how Challenge Island brings S.T.E.A.M to kids:

Science: Chemistry, physical science, earth science, and life sciences are incorporated into our challenges in our trademark child-friendly ways.

Technology: Challenge Island requires kids to use their innate creativity and analytical skills to develop a workable solution to a problem.

Engineering: The Challenge Island Totem Pole is the backbone of each lesson and is actually the engineering process in action!

Art: Challenge Island is as much about function as it is about form. Every treasure chest has an art set and additional challenge-specific artistic mediums are provided. The Challenge Island music playing in our classrooms, helps our students channel their artistic sides.

Math: Every Challenge Island lesson incorporates various math concepts, such as estimating, weighing, measuring, counting, geometry, and time.

The Challenge Island Experience
The sessions will take place in "Time Machine Island" and "Volcano Challenge Island". Participants will be divided into tribes. Far more than just a group of students, tribes function like families, sharing ideas, hopes and mutual goals. They learn to negotiate, compromise and count on one another. They build bonds, friendships, tolerance and acceptance as they pool their combined strengths and resources to create a far richer product than any one of them could ever achieve individually.

From the tribal face paint to the bandanas to the beat of the tribal drum, the spirit of Challenge Island is absolutely unmistakable. A sense of anticipation and adventure fills the air as participants enter new worlds of adventure and imagination. There’s an ever-present buzz of creativity and excitement as tribes work together to take on the thematic challenge of the day.

From August 16 through 19, 2016, Pasig Green Pasture Christian School will celebrate Linggo ng Wika (Filipino Week) with the theme, "Filipino: Wika ng Karunungan Tungo sa Kaunlaran". Throughout the week, we will be holding various campus-wide activities like poem and essay writing, storytelling, declamation contests and a simple school-wide kakanin (native delicacies) feast to remind us all of our Filipino roots and to capture the essence of this year's theme.

Maluwalhating umaga sa inyo mga kapwa Pilipino, mag-aaral, kaibigan, mahuhusay at mapagmahal na mga guro, butihing at maunawaing prinsipal at administrador. Purihin ang Panginoong Hesus sa isang napakagandang umaga!

Wikang Filipino, wika ng bawat Pilipino. Ikaw, ako, tayo.. iisa. Sa mundong pilit kang binabago.

Ang wika ay isang mahalagang aspeto ng bawat kultura. Ito ang basehan na ginagamit ng lahat ng antas ng tao sa lipunang kinagagalawan. Ito ang bumubuklod sa mamamayang Pilipino sa Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao.

Sa pagsisimula ng paggamit ng mga Pilipino ng wikang Tagalog sa unang panahon, binuhay nito ang sibilisasyon. Nagkaisa ang mga Pilipino sa mas ikabubuti ng ating bansa. Nagkaintindihan ang bawat pangkat dahil sa pagkakaroon ng isang wika na naiintindihan ng lahat. Mas mabilis ang naging daan para sa transportasyon at komunikasyon na nagbigay daan para mas dumami ang ideya at opinyon. Pinagkaisa nito ang mga nakasanayang tradisyon. Nagbigay daan ito sa mas positibong pagbabago at naibahagi ang iba’t ibang kultura at paniniwala. At higit sa lahat, napanatili nito ang pagkakaisa ng bawat Pilipino kahit na may iba't-ibang paniniwala.

Ang wikang Filipino ang ginagamit natin tungo sa pambansang kaunlaran. Wikang ating kasangkapan sa pagkakaunawaan at pagkakaisa ng mga mamamayang Pilipino saan mang panig ng Pilipinas.

Talaga ngang wala ng ibang magmamahal sa Wikang Filipino, kundi tayo ring mga Pilipino, kaya’t halina’t pagyabungin natin ang isa sa mga pinaka-iingatang yaman ng ating bansa Ang wikang Filipino. Wika Mo, Wika ko, at Wikang nating Lahat.

Nutrition Week - July 25, 2016 to July 29, 2016

What do most celebrations have in common? Food! Eating is definitely a big part of our most joyful experiences, but when we look at food only through the lens of the nutrition it provides, we can easily take joy out of the equation. At Pasig Green Pasture Christian School, we beg to differ. We think that healthy eating AND happy eating can coexist. Because of this, we selected "Savor the Flavor of Eating Right" as the theme of our Nutrition Week celebration.

Celebrating a milestone in the history of Pasig Green Pasture Christian School

July 9, 2016 marked a new chapter in Pasig Green Pasture Christian School's history as it celebrated the inauguration of its new school gym through an event with the theme, "Empower the Body, Consecrate the Mind, Elevate the Spirit".

In his opening remarks, Charles Tiu, School President, addressed the students, parents and teachers in attendance saying that the gym construction project is a testament to the school's commitment to provide its students with a well rounded education that extends beyond pure academics. Guest speaker, BJ Manalo, former UAAP basketball player, expounded on this concept by sharing four key principles - #1 Passing is more important than shooting. #2 Teamwork is capable of producing more results. #3 Effort is more important than winning. #4 You cannot stand on a basketball.

Following the opening speeches, event attendees participated in various athletic activities like zumba, volleyball, basketball and tug of war. Photos from the event are now posted on the school's official Facebook page .

On June 24, 2016, Pasig Green Pasture Christian School celebrated its annual Values Formation Day. This year's theme is "Knowing God through the Bible". What is its relevance in our world today?

The Bible is filled with God's promises for us.

Did you know that there are 5,467 divine promises of God in the Bible? What are the conditions for us to enjoy these? We will know the answers to these questions if we take the time to read the Bible. All we can say is...God is fully committed to these promises and will surely not let us down!

Live a God-centered and purpose driven life.

The Bible stands for B asic I nstructions B efore L eaving E arth (Yes, they are really simple.). It is important that we understand these instructions so that we can discover God's love for us and thus be inspired to live God-centered and purpose driven lives. We should also aim to lead others to do the same so that we can make the world a better place for us and our future generations.

The wait is finally over!

We are proud to announce that the Pasig Green Pasture gym construction project has been completed! To celebrate this milestone, we are inviting our students and their parents to attend our gym dedication event with the theme "Empower the Body, Consecrate the Heart and Elevate the Spirit" on July 9 from 9 AM - 12 PM. More details can be found on the official memo to be distributed to our students this week. We hope to see you there!

By way of background, the Pasig Green Pasture Christian School gym was constructed in line with our mission to provide our students with a truly well rounded Christian education. With this new facility, we hope to not only guide them towards being physically active, but to also broaden their range of life experiences to ones beyond the confines of the classroom and to further increase their interaction with their fellow students in order to help them make the most of their Pasig Green Pasture experience.

Sibling Discount at Pasig Green Pasture School

Pasig Green Pasture Christian School recognizes the financial impact that the cost of quality education can have on families with multiple children. As a result, we are offering a sibling discount for families with more than one child enrolled with us for SY 2016 - 2017.

The sibling discount will take effect starting this school year and will be implemented as follows:

Parents with more than two children enrolled at Pasig Green Pasture for SY 2016-2017 will receive a 25% discount off the basic tuition fee (miscellaneous fees, books and uniform not included) of the second and younger siblings. There will be no discount on the tuition fee of the eldest sibling.

Breeze through the enrollment process with this step-by-step guide!

The enrollment period is currently in full swing! Please be reminded of the following to ensure a quick and smooth registration process (and so that you can enjoy more of what is left of summer):

Enrollment Deadline: May 31, 2016
Enrollment Venue: Campus Administrative Office. Office hours run from 9 AM to 4 PM from Monday to Friday and from 9 AM to 3 PM on Saturdays.

For Students who were enrolled during SY 2015 - 2016:

Step 1 - Complete a school registration form. Please make sure to include a recently taken (not more than 6 months) 2x2 photo of the student.

Time saving tip: Parents may fill out the registration form in advance by downloading it here . Bring the completed copy on your enrollment day
Hardcopies are also available in our our campus Administrative Office at 137 F. Andres Street, Bgy. Rosario, Pasig City.

Step 2 - Submit the student's original SY 2015 - 2016 report card.

Step 3 - Request for an assessment of fees. Our Administrative Office will inform you of the school tuition and materials fee. Please pay for school fees only at the school cashier . Remember to get a copy of your receipt. You will use this to claim your school materials.

Step 4 - Claim your books and notebooks at the school canteen anytime between 9 AM - 3 PM from May 23 through May 28, 2016.

Step 5 - Request for a copy of the SY 2016 - 2017 calendar and a list of other school materials needed from the Administrative Office.

8 Ways Filipino Parents Can Build a Better Nation for their Children

No parents have ever wanted a chaotic country to live in for their children. With the current situation of the Philippines—governed by some corrupt officials which affects the different sectors of the country—any parent would wish for a better environment for their family. This is one reason why some families decide to migrate abroad in hope to give their children a better future. However, migration is actually not necessary if only parents themselves would unite and start fighting for change in our nation. Through small steps by concerned citizens, the Philippines can change for the better.

Jose Rizal said that the youth are the hope of our nation. For this reason, it is the responsibility of parents to provide them a good environment where they can grow and be trained to become future leaders. Here are some steps that parents can do to help create a better Philippines for their children.

1. Vote wisely
Corruption is among the biggest problems of our country. It is the reason why many families suffer from poverty and poor services. If this would not end, then you can expect that your children will experience the same suffering in the future. Worse, they can grow into these corrupt leaders too as they become exposed to this culture. Hence, if you want to help stop corruption, you should start by using your right to vote responsibly. You can also influence other parents to do the same.

2. Stop personal corruption
Corruption in the Philippines is not limited to the government. Wherever you go, different forms of corruption exist—in the office, school, and other institutions. Sometimes, people are not aware of them as these practices became part of the culture already—but they are all wrong and they negatively affect our country. Some of these corrupt practices include not performing at work according to standards, cheating during exams, and coming to work late but still receiving full salary. If you want to change the Philippines, you should begin by avoiding such practices and being a good example at work.

3. Value time like a pro
One of the bad habits that Filipinos have to change is valuing time. Is it not embarrassing that ‘Filipino time’ is associated with being late? Tardiness affects a lot of things like work performance and trust. Therefore, if you do not want your children to grow in a community where being late is considered normal, and you want them to be professionals, then you need to set the standard at home and work—that 7 A.M. is 7 A.M.

4. Be active in community service or charity events
To build a better Philippines, it should begin with fixing the present problems. There are lots of people need to be restored or helped to stand on their own. Through charities and community service, organizations are able to provide assistance to needy people. By being involved in such activities, you directly participate in making changes in the lives of many Filipinos. Imagine if NGOs, which are committed to making lives better, are able to help a million of people in the country to have successful lives, Philippines will progress then.

5. Promote education
The best treasure that you can pass on to your kids is education, because no one can take this away from them. With education, they have a bigger chance of achieving success and they can be whoever they want to be. However, even if your children get the best education yet they are surrounded by many who are not as privileged as them, then they will still suffer with the rest because of an underdeveloped society. To avoid this, then you also have to encourage other people especially parents to prioritize education for their kids. If you have the means, you can also help support some students to finish their studies.

6. Help campaign for environment protection
The Philippines is blessed with rich natural resources and beautiful tourist spots. However, because of people’s lack of discipline, these resources are depleting fast and our country is turning into an ugly group of islands. Garbage has turned crystal clear waters into dead seas; pollution makes the urban sky gray; and landslides happen from time to time because of lack of trees. Aside from losing tourists, which eventually affects the economy, the health of our loved ones is also at risk. If you want your kids to grow in a healthy and beautiful environment, then you should help preserve our nature even in small ways. One of the simplest ways to do this is by teaching your kids to throw their trash into the proper bin or turn off the faucet when not in use. You can also participate in tree planting projects, or support advocacies or causes that campaign for the protection of wildlife and natural resources.

7. Give importance to family
One of the core values that this generation is losing is being family oriented. Since the family is the basic unit of the society and it is the foundation of the development of a child, you should make sure that your own kids will grow in a healthy home. Your children are among the future leaders of the country, so it is your responsibility as a parent to train them uprightly. By providing them an environment where love, good virtues, and discipline are cultivated, these children can grow into better leaders.

8. Be a good role model
By raising responsible and righteous people, you are already helping in creating a better country. The best way to train your kids is by showing them. If you want them to become disciplined citizens, then do not cross the street when the red light for pedestrians is on; do not throw garbage just anywhere; never fight with your partner in front of them; and be honest with them all the time. Whatever they see in you, they will follow, so you have to be careful of how you live your life.

You do not have to move out of the Philippines just to provide a good life for your kids. By just being a responsible citizen and parent, you do not only raise your children well, but even help change the country. Instead of wanting a better place for your children, why not just dream of them becoming better people who can influence wherever they are?

For many parents, summer poses the inevitable question: "Now that the kids are home all day, what fun activities can we do without breaking the bank?"

We've got you covered! Here are some ideas from your friends at Pasig Green Pasture Christian School:

Play board games - Call us old fashioned, but experts say that board games are a fun way to teach kids how to follow rules, take turns and problem solve. Playing them as a family just increases the fun factor!

Let the kids help you cook. - Not only does this sharpen math skills with school out, but also kids are more likely to eat healthy meals they help prepare!

Share a hobby or craft. - Do you like to paint, sew or create scrapbooks? Share the joy of these activities with your kids! If the child has expressed interest in a topic you haven’t mastered, do the research and create projects together.

Take up a sport as a family. - Yoga, badminton, basketball and bike riding are good sports for families to engage in together. The best part is you can stay fit and spend quality time with your family all at once.

Take a field trip to a nearby town. - Check with convention and visitors bureaus for information about special summer events and deals, as well as free attractions. They will be your best sources of information for events only locals know about.

Give the kids a photography project. - Let the youngsters choose a theme and have them take photos of it all summer. They can then use those photos in a scrapbook, storybook, online slideshow or gift for relatives or friends and make it a summer to remember.

Attend vacation bible school. - Filled with a variety of activities - drawing, coloring, singing and dancing to name a few, vacation bible school takes children on imaginative adventures and makes them eager Bible story learners. Also, kids gain a ton of new friends!

Winning Final Exam Study Tips

Ace those final exams like a pro!

Final exams are coming up. We know that this is a stressful time for most students, so we would like to share some tips on how to ace those exams like a pro!

Say NO to cramming

Study in intervals! Studying in 20-50 minute increments and giving yourself 5-10 minutes in between is more beneficial than cramming. Distributing learning over time typically benefits long-term retention more than a short period. By creating a balanced study plan and schedule, you will be able to study each subject in its entirety and ultimately boost your test performance.

Say YES to exercise

Science says that just 20 minutes of exercise can improve your memory. Whether you’re dancing, jogging or busting a sweat by walking, exercise will increase your energy level and reduce the effects of stress. Very important!

Superfoods create super brains

Skip the junk food while studying. Eating a healthy snack (think bananas, nuts and milk for example) is very beneficial and can make a significant difference in your attention span. When you study, your brain consumes glucose, so take a five-minute break every hour to let your body produce more fuel for your studying.

Avoid the all nighter

Based on a 2008 study by Pamela Thacher, Associate Professor of Psychology at St. Lawrence University, all-nighters impair reasoning and memory for as long as four days, so make sure to get that good night's sleep the night before each exam.

The wait is almost over! The Pasig Green Pasture gymnasium construction project, which began in October 2015, is expected to be completed in the next few months. Once done, the 350 square meter space will include a basketball court and will become the center of all of the school's athletic and special events.

Pasig Green Pasture believes in the importance of a God-centered marriage in creating a happy and healthy family life. As a result, the school hosted its first couples' retreat on February 28, 2016 at the Microtel Hotel Inn and Suites in Libis, Quezon City.

Fifteen couples attended and listened to Pastor Jeff Eliscupidez (Victory Fort Bonifacio) speak about topics like the foundations of marriage, the roles of a husband and a wife and marriage improvement. They also had the opportunity to share experiences with the group.

We simply could not forget this line from Pastor Jeff - "Husbands and wives, it's not about losing the argument. Instead, it is about winning the relationship."

Two Green Pasture Students Top the MTG Challenge for Filipino Kids Training Program

Congratulations to Green Pasture students, Elijah Mark Cheng (Gr. 5) and Yzekiel Venn Rivera (Gr. 6)!

Both students topped the MTG Mathematical Challenge for Filipino Kids Training Program (MCFKTP) on February 6, 2016 and are now qualified to join other Math wizards from all over the Philippines at the 2016 Young Mathematician In-House Intensive Training Program (YMIITP) to be held at Baguio Crown Legacy Hotel, Baguio City from March 26 to 29, 2016.

YMIITP is a highly competitive math program which will culminate in the Philippines Invitation Mathematics Examination (PIME). Students who pass this exam will be qualified to participate in the MTG Mathematical Olympiad Summer Training Program (MOSTP), the last step needed before students can represent the Philippines in various international Math competitions.

Creating Filipino mathematics and science leaders of the future

Pasig Green Pasture hosted the first ever Hamon-Sipnayan (Mathematics) and Aghamon (Science) Quiz Bees at its campus on January 16, 2016. The school, in partnership with the National Alliance of Administrators of Christian Schools (NAACS) and the Antipolo Christian School Administrators' Club, developed the Hamon Sipnayan and Aghamon quiz bees with the goal of challenging Filipino students to develop the math and science skills that can compete in today's global environment. Nineteen Christian schools from the Antipolo, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Pasig and Quezon City areas participated.

Mr. Eugenio S. Adrao (DepEd Region IV-A Calabarzon Supervisor) and Ms. Cynel D. Mercado (PGPCS Science teacher) were the quiz masters at this event. It was indeed a day of fun-filled learning and healthy competition among all the participants.
